GDG - Kenyatta University Revamp

This past Friday, 24th January 2014, was nothing short of successful and full of energy to say the least, at Kenyatta University, Students' Computer Center, Lab 6 :-)
This is where the revamp happened. This is where the techies of Kenyatta Universities converged, for one goal; revive the GDG community that once was and plan on no more revamps but more contribution and activities around Google technologies.

The lady to spearhead the chapter, +Margaret Adhiambo Ondeng' took members present through what a GDG is all about; and what a GDG is not. 80% of the students present were aware of GDGs but had never actively participated in any chapter, thus completely welcomed a chapter in Kenyatta University.

Major Google technologies and Google student opportunities were highlighted by +Mercy Orangi followed by some wise words and advice from +Erick Wasambo who is the Android thematic lead at +GDG Nairobi .

Erick challenged the students not to just develop and be great in the confines of their cubicles but to learn to be techpreneurs and leverage upcoming technology in their solutions that should be of benefit to their communities.

Oh yeah, we did trend too :-)

Follow the event as it were online via the hash-tag #gdgKuRevamp and watch as these young, vibrant, curious techies take their environs by storm!

Much appreciation to +Chukwuemeka Afigbo for allowing us to make this happen, the #kugsa team +Jackie Moraa and +njihia jeremy for teaming up with #gdg and for all our newly revived members at +GDG Kenyatta University :-)

Lets do this!
